ASUME Router
ASUME Router is the model-routing system behind Auto in Ask ASUME. Not every question requires the same level of model capability, so the Router selects an available model based on the question, the maintained company context involved, the reasoning required, expected speed, and cost.
A straightforward question can therefore be handled by a faster and more efficient model, while a more demanding question can be routed to a stronger model when the additional capability is useful.
How it works
When you select Auto, ASUME Router evaluates the Ask and selects an appropriate model from the models available to your workspace.
The Router can consider factors such as the amount and type of company context involved, the complexity of the question, the reasoning required to answer it, latency, and model cost.
The underlying model pool is managed by ASUME and can change as models improve, new models become available, or existing models are retired.
You do not choose the individual model while using Auto. If you want a specific model to answer the question, select that model directly in Ask ASUME instead.
ASUME Router affects only how a question is answered. It does not control how ASUME builds or maintains the underlying company understanding.
Pricing
ASUME Router does not have a separate model rate.
Auto usage is charged at the published ASUME rate of the model selected for the Ask. If Auto routes a question to GPT-5.6 Terra, for example, that request is charged using the GPT-5.6 Terra rates.
This means the cost of Auto varies according to the work required by the question rather than every Ask being charged as an identical request.
The selected model can be shown in usage information where ASUME makes that information available.
Auto and Corollary
Auto and Corollary serve different purposes.
Auto uses ASUME Router to choose among available models for each question. The model used, and therefore the price, can vary from one Ask to another.
Corollary is ASUME's managed answering system for Ask ASUME. It provides a consistent ASUME answering experience with its own published rate, while ASUME manages the underlying model and answering process.
Choose Auto when you want model selection to adapt to each question.
Choose Corollary when you want the managed ASUME answering experience and predictable Corollary pricing.
Choose a specific third-party model when you want direct control over which model answers.
Model availability
ASUME Router only selects from models currently available to the workspace.
Where model access controls are available, the Router respects those restrictions. A model that is not permitted for the workspace is not eligible to be selected by Auto.
Restricting the available model pool can affect the Router's ability to balance capability, speed, and cost because it has fewer models available for different types of work.
The set of models available to ASUME Router may change over time as ASUME evaluates new models and providers.
ASUME Router and Understanding
ASUME Router belongs to Ask ASUME, not to the Understanding layer.
ASUME independently manages the models and systems used to construct and maintain company understanding. Those internal choices are not made by ASUME Router and are not controlled through Auto.

This separation allows ASUME to maintain one company understanding while giving users different ways to ask questions against it.
